Flag Book (continued)

Now you can see from this picture that you have the outside of your book.  If when you do your next one, you want more pages, you simply make the spine 3 cm wider per page and score 2 more lines 1.5 cm apart for each extra page you would like.

You can see that all the flags lying in one direction are attached to one side of the concertina spine, and the flags attached to the opposite side open in the opposite direction.  For this card I have chosen to have a wider middle section using the top and bottom ‘flags’ as a frame for my lovely trees, but you can adjust the measurements to have equal sized flags.

To make the Flag book shown, follow these measurements;

Cut 3 pieces of card 5 cm x 13.5 cm for the middle flags, and decorate.

You can see here that I staggered the stamped images on this section to give depth to the picture.

Cut 6 pieces of card 3 cm x 13.5 cm for the outside flags, and decorate.

I attached pieces of 2.6 x 13.1 pieces of card onto these outside flags in contrasting colours

When you are decorating them think how they will look from both sides.

Take your middle flags, put them face down and attach a piece of double sided tape close to the edge on the right hand side of each flag.

Now attach one of these middle flags to the centre of the first folded section as shown.  Tuck it up to the fold when attaching it, but make sure it’s not stopping the fold from folding.

Now attach one of these middle flags to the centre of the first folded section as shown.  Tuck it up to the fold when attaching it, but make sure it’s not stopping the fold from folding.

Add the remaining two middle flags  as shown.

Now attach your remaining flags to the opposite side of the folds to the middle flags as shown.

The lilac colour shows you which sections you should be attaching your flags to.

And there you have it!  If any of these are unclear do please e-mail me so I can add detail to them.  I’d also love to see any photos of finished Flag Books that I could put in the Time for Crafting Gallery!
